78. The Power of a 5-Year-Old's Imagination

I backed Dwarven Forge's first Kickstarter, their Game Tiles Dungeons.  I got them unpainted, then painted them myself.  They arrived in October 2013.

I also backed their Caverns Kickstarter.  I painted them myself too.  They arrived in December 2014.

Somehow, my then-5-year-old son Henry started building Caverns with my newly-arrived, unpainted tiles.  So I took pictures of his creations, thinking it would be a short-lived interest.  Not so!  I suddenly realized that I've got a whole lotta pictures of Caverns he created, and then the Dungeons when I let him play with the now-painted Dungeon tiles.

So here are the pics, all in one place, mostly so I can revel in my child's imagination.  This first set of pictures were actually taken four days before his 5th birthday.  He got more use out of them in one day than I have ever!

If someone helped him build something, then they are included in the photo, otherwise it's all Henry.

No design is like another.  They're all unique.  It's so cool.

Then I started letting him play with some of my unpainted Reaper Bones figures from their huge Kickstarter.  There are also some "green Army men" in there, as well as some Cowboy figures....

I also backed the Acheson Creations' Dungeon World Kickstarter.  These remain unpainted (sigh).  They are not quite at versatile/durable as Dwarven Forge but they are still cool.

And that brings us up to date!  I knew things would taper off eventually.  He goes back to them every once in a while now.

Somewhere along the line I let him begin playing with both my unpainted AND painted Reaper Bones figures.  That's the good thing about both the Dwarven Forge stuff and the Bones stuff:  they're practically indestructible!

Thanks for stopping by.
