77. Well, hello there, Sailor!

Step on in to my lair, er, boudoir, er, blog.  I've got some etchings to show you....

Yes, I've been away from the blog for a long, long, long, long while.  No, it's not going to change any time soon.  Yes, that makes me sad.  Life keeps getting in the way.  Real Life ©®tm and all that.

However, I've not been doing nothing.

I've painted a bunch o' Reaper Bones figures.  I bought into the first Bones Kickstarter, as well as the second, but not the third.  (I go into this more at this old blog post here.)  They're good figures for the money, but not great.  They do what they're meant to do really well:  be quick-to-paint miniatures that you can throw in a bag and dump on the table and not worry that any will be chipped or cracked or broken.  I let my then-5 year old play with them, something I wouldn't do with my metal and / or better-painted figures.

And I paint these they way they deserve:  almost with a Q-tip for a brush.  Here are the brushes I use.

It's really a case of get-these-painted-as-fast-as-possible.

But play a game with them?  Who has time?  These were painted over the last year and a half.  When you think about it I still haven't painted very much at all.  I know people in the Blog-o-sphere who could paint this amount in a week.

I'll take what I can get.

And be happy about it.

Meh.

By the way, some of these figures (especially down towards the bottom of the page here) were featured previously on this mildly-esteemed blog, but I don't really recall which ones were shown before.

Also, as usual, the pictures will enlarge should you be daring enough to click on them.

Dwarven Forge Caverns ... another Kickstarter I backed and that I painted.

These are from Likto:  invisible adventurers.

These are from Litko:  invisible monsters.

Thanks for looking!

    1. Alas, not nearly as busy as I could wish, but I thank you nonetheless for your kind words.

  2. The Dwarven Forge caverns look good. I agree with your assessment of the Reaper Bones figures. I have picked up just a few of the individual figures in stores, just to get the occasional monster or whatever. But I don't like the mold lines on that kind of rubbery plastic. The figures are okay for chucking into games, but they're not the greatest quality if you are looking for something more. I think you did them justice.

    1. Thank you kindly. I've got loads more to paint, and I intend to keep using the same worn-out brushes, just to see what I can get away with. ;-)

The Dwarven Forge Caverns are very nice, too. I did splurge for their own brand of paints, as I liked the colors and the paint adhesion was advertised as being better than "regular" paint. I will agree that it is. It is all pricey, but worth it.

  3. Hey KC! Everything looks great! Don't feel bad about not getting to your blog in a while. I still haven't updated mine. =P

    1. It's frustrating, not only not being able to update the blog, but just not getting anything done. I hope you, at least, have gotten lots of stuff done!
